An Arkansas family is undoubtedly reeling with grief after a recent fatal
accident in McDonald County. Two sisters, 20 and 16 years old, respectively,
died at the scene of the crash, and four other people suffered injuries
that ranged from serious to moderate.
A number of victims were taken to nearby hospitals either by air or by
ambulance.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a truck driven by a 19-year-old
Pineville resident apparently collided with another vehicle while changing
lanes. The collision sent the 19-year-old’s northbound truck across
the center line of the road and into the southbound lane.
The truck then hit a van occupied by a family from Bentonville, Arkansas,
and the van overturned after going off the road. A man in the van was
airlifted to a hospital in Joplin, and his wife, who was also in the van,
was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Bentonville. Another family
member, 18 years old, was also flown to Joplin to be treated for serious injuries.
A 21-year-old from Conway, Arkansas, was taken by air to a Springfield hospital.
The drivers of the vehicles involved in the initial collision were tested
for intoxication, but the results of those tests were not reported. There
was no word as to whether the driver of the truck will face any charges.
Family members who have lost a loved one because of driver’s
negligent or reckless actions have the option of seeking justice through a wrongful death lawsuit. We
tend to refer to car crashes as “accidents,” but that doesn’t
necessarily mean that a fatal crash wasn’t preventable.
